The program was started by mothers in our community after the tragic drowning of two local siblings. These mothers aimed to create a program that would teach children in the community how to swim, ensuring that such a tragedy would never happen again. This initiative is dedicated to honouring the memory of those two children.
The program takes place every July, and this year it will run from June 29th to July 24th. Registration information will be available online shortly, and we will share a link on this site as well as on social media.
On July 10th, we will launch our Swimathon fundraiser. This event will be a fun-filled day for swimmers and their families at Bon Echo Park.
If you would like to support this valuable program, which relies primarily on donations, please click the “Donate” button and specify "Mazinaw Lake Swim Program." Thank you!
This year, we are honoured to have the support of Friends of Bon Echo. Together, we are passionate about the water safety of all swimmers and especially the children of our community who will take part in MLSP at Bon Echo Park.
A donation of a bag full of cash totalling $1,455 was very gratefully accepted by Mary Kelly, Chair of the Board of Land O’ Lakes Community Services. Presented by the Blades vs Badges Charity Classic hockey game in Flinton, organizers Teri Woods & Nick Cooke.
